We are taking expressions of interest for a summer course for primary school teachers in Laois from the 1st -5th July at Laois Education Centre in Portlaoise, following our Cork course selling out.
Our DES-approved ABLE4Teachers training aims to foster well-being in the school community, equipping teachers with the skills and insight to help them to build responsive relationships.
Based on Ag Eisteacht’s ABLE (Adopt, Build, Listen & Empower) model, the training helps teachers to boundary and manage conversations with parents, colleagues and pupils, as well as providing resources to foster whole school relational wellbeing and increase job satisfaction.
Dr Maeve Hurley, founder of Ag Eisteacht, said: “There are moments of opportunity in every school day when the ability to engage sensitively and respond appropriately helps to foster better relationships throughout the whole school community.
“Just listening actively and showing empathy can make a difference.
“Our DES-approved ABLE4Teachers training gives teachers the framework, tools and confidence to respond to signals of distress from parents, colleagues and pupils using our brief intervention model. It also looks at the key messages from research on how to manage conflict constructively in the classroom, playground and staffroom, and resources to support this process. Recognising that relationships are a key social determinant of health and wellbeing, it provides insights to help teachers to empower their pupils also to relate better.”
Custom-designed for teachers, ABLE4Teachers training shares insight into evidence-based knowledge of the impact of family relationships, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Infant Mental Health and conflict on children’s ability to engage with their educational experience.
98% of previous participants said they would recommend the course to a colleague.
The five-day course is heavily subsidised by Ag Eisteacht, and the only cost for teachers is a €50 administration fee.
We are also facilitating a two-hour workshop as a taster session to ABLE4Teachers in Tralee on 7th May at 4:30pm, with bookings via Tralee Education Centre. https://www.edcentretralee.ie/cpd-courses-tralee-kerry/primary-courses/748-able-4-teacher.html
