As I am sure you are all aware by now, GDPR (general data protection regulation) will come into effect today, May 25th. These 4 letters, GDPR, have been imprinted on our minds for the last number of months as we all scramble to get things in order before it arrives.
GDPR is the new EU law that will replace the Data Protection Act. This will be the biggest overhaul of data protection legislation in over 25 years. The regulation will introduce new requirements for organisations of all kinds on how they process data.
At Ag Eisteacht we understand the importance of data protection and take this responsibility seriously. We are implementing the new standards introduced by GDPR in our processing of data.
Here is a summary of the changes:
• We are re-organising our contacts database and our data processing practices in reflection of the regulations.
• We have updated our data protection notice which is included in the footer of all of our email correspondence.
• We have updated our policies to include practices that allow for transparency and ease of client access to relevant data.
• Office staff have been briefed on the relevant GDPR changes and these will be reflected in our handling of all future data.
Over the coming days you may receive an email from our designated Data Protection Officeer asking you to opt in to receiving emails and information from us in the future. We would ask all of our clients, past and present, to please read this email carefully and let us know if you would like to stay on our database. If you would like to opt in but do not receive an email from us, please feel free to contact us on [email protected] We are trying to make this process as easy as possible for people, as we know your time is precious. We hope you will stay in touch.
