Reflecting, reviewing, revising and reconnecting at the Ag Eisteacht Trainer Update day 2017

Reflecting, reviewing, revising and reconnecting were at the fore of our trainer update day which was held yesterday in Nano Nagle place. We hold an update day for our Trainers annually so that we can see how our trainers are finding delivering the ABLE training, and let them know of changes to the programme for the next 12 months.

Reflect

The day began with a reflective exercise led by Martin O’Connor. Each member of the Ag Eisteacht team was asked to bring a personally significant object with them that with the intention of sharing:

  • The significance and meaning of the symbol in light of your personal journey in life/work to date,
  • What makes your heart sing in your work?
  • What takes you out of your comfort zone in work?

Th This exercise sat the tone for the day nicely.

RReview

Thérèse provided a review of the ABLE training delivered thus far and fed back to the trainers the excellent feedback the courses have been generating. This proved to be a positive affirmation of both the ABLE programme and the ability of our trainers to engage with the various practitioners they come into contact with.

Revise

Here at Ag Eisteacht we are constantly striving to improve our offerings- making them more tailored and more relevant to front-line practitioners in 2017 Ireland.

This part of the day involved the incorporation of new evidence and materials to the ABLE programme and a discussion of the research which brought about these changes. Some examples of this include:

Welsh ACEs study, ongoing work on what works from USA, recognising the ‘Single at Heart’ status as described by Bella De Paulo here, and adding in new visual inputs such as this Dan Siegel clip.

Reconnect

The trainers valued the opportunity to share the learning from training, and think about and discuss what works well and what could be better in terms of our ABLE programme.
